Growing a Greener Tomorrow – 2024 Interprofessional Summit

Join us at the Annual Interprofessional Summit hosted by the Interprofessional Council (IPC) at Ohio State. This year’s summit, “Growing a Greener Tomorrow,” focuses on the impact of climate change on our communities and professions.

When: Sunday, February 25th, 9:00am-1:00pm (Check-in starting at 8:30 am)

Where: Biomedical Research Tower Room 115 –– 460 W 12th Ave, Columbus OH 43210

What: The 2024 Summit is dedicated to exploring the vital connection between climate change and our communities and professions. Participants can expect insightful discussions, expert perspectives, and a call to action for sustainable practices. The event provides a platform for attendees from all six professional colleges at OSU to engage in conversations about the challenges posed by climate change and collaborative solutions for a more sustainable future. There will be several giveaways (i.e. free CoGo bikeshare annual memberships, reusable bamboo utensil sets, Dr. Bronner’s products, books, and many more) available for students to choose from that can aid them in integrating sustainable practices into their day-to-day lives. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Keynote speakers for this year’s event include:

  1. Dr. Joseph Campbell: Senior Lecturer at The Ohio State University’s School of Environment and Natural Resources and Director of the Environmental Professionals Network (EPN). Dr. Campbell’s expertise lies in the balance between community development and natural resource management.
  2. Dr. Patrick Sours: Senior Lecturer in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, where he focuses on Engineering for Sustainable Development and cultivating students’ Intercultural Competence. Patrick has extensive field work in international development working with rural communities on construction and optimization of water storage. Patrick has worked on a variety of projects in Tanzania, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, and India.
  3. Dr. Amy Collins: Emergency medicine physician, healthcare sustainability professional, and medical director for Health Care Without Harm. Dr. Collins shares her journey of becoming inspired to act on climate change, her efforts to integrate sustainability into healthcare, and how we can advocate for ourselves and patients in a world with changing climate.

 

The event this year will be hosted by Dominique Hadad (Founder and CEO of Greenscope Consulting): After winning Ohio State's President's Prize award in 2021, Dominique launched Green Scope Consulting to transform any organization into a Zero Waste operation. Green Scope currently serves food businesses, schools, and corporations by offering sustainability expertise. Dominique specializes in the analysis, strategy, education, and project management in transforming sustainability initiatives into resilient systems.
