Richard is excited about the field optometry because it offers a unique position in the healthcare field since patients typically come annually to update their glasses/contact lens prescription, unlike more specialized practitioners. By looking into a patient's eye annually, we are able to learn a great deal about both their ocular and systemic health and can identify diseases in their asymptomatic stage in a non-invasive manner, such as tumors, vascular pathology, and many more. He enjoys playing a variety of musical instruments and reading.
